Welcome! I assume if you’ve found us here, you probably follow along on our social channels. Even if you’ve followed along with our adventures for a while now, it’s hard to really tell a story on social media platforms. If you’re new around here, nice to meet you. So we are going old school, some of the OG social media…..Blogging. We’re here to tell our story, and learn about yours too. We will be sharing our trips here, maybe not as often as places like Instagram or TikTok, but more in depth about the important ones. We also want to share tips and tricks, lessons learned and so on.
So, how did we get here? It’s been a long ride to say the least. Growing up in Colorado and New Hampshire respectively, we’ve always been outside and have always been explorers. We met while working in public land conservation in Nevada, sometime around the summer of 2010. Since that fateful day in a parking lot full of volunteers that we were about to lead for a day, we’ve been on our own little adventures. We married a couple years later, moved from Vegas to Reno, then back to Colorado for me (a bucket list place to live for her) for a few years while I brewed at a couple large regional brewers in the metro area. By this time, we were backpacking and hiking less, and spending more time on trips in and out of the car, always envying the places we couldn’t get to in our current vehicle.
We FINALLY landed our Colorado ZR2 after what felt like a life time. The world was ours from that moment on. We spent every weekend in the truck whether we were on a trail, on a hunt, or just out for a drive to somewhere new. As we explored I discovered all kinds of fun new things that I was convinced the truck just had to have. We’ve built our truck that we affectionately call Frank, one piece of gear at a time. So now we’ve ended up in New Mexico, a place with endless opportunities to explore. As the truck has grown, so has our ambition to both work remotely. After a stint as a FF/EMT both volunteer and career, I now work in clinical medicine.
I’ve been fortunate enough this past year or so to really make some connections and land a few sponsorships and ambassador roles for a few brands in the overland and offroad market. Most notably, onX Offroad. I started out in their Trail Guide program. Mapping, writing reports and taking photos of trails. Late last year (I think) the trail guides were told of an opportunity to be one of 50 vehicles selected for an awesome topo wrap from onX Offroad. I applied as Frank needed paint or a wrap quickest from years of trail and city rash. Never in a million years did I think I would be chosen. I didn’t have much of a social media presence, I only took photos of other things and not my own. A few months went by, I knew other guides that had been selected so I figured the program was full and that was that. Out of the blue I received an email from onX marketing. Offering a quick chat about the wrap, if, I was interested. I was so excited that I somehow sent the reply to the email to my wife instead of the marketing team. I’ve since learned to slow down and read more good.
So we here are now. Officially a fleet driver for onX Offroad. It’s been wild since, I’ve worked on a few things with some amazing brands and companies, met incredible people along the way, and hopefully we’ve inspired a few as well. We hope you’ll stick around to really get to know us, we have a lot to share.
Stay tuned!
Andy
